Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking
the successive autumns.~~ George Elliot
Horticulture
Thank you to all who volunteered to water the Parker Tavern gardens this summer. The gardens looked great and
did reasonably well despite the dry spells we had. Upcoming Horticulture Dates:
- October 25 – Parker Tavern Garden Fall Clean Up 8:30 a.m. followed by our horticulture committee meeting. Help us put the gardens to bed for the long winter months and join us with your gloves and tools for fall clean up. Many hands make light work so it should go quickly weather permitting.
- November 5 – Horticulture meeting at the Espousal Center in Waltham - Organic Gardening by Nancy Perkins - 10 a.m. to 12 noon, $3. Call Michele or Kim if you would like to join a carpool.
- November 30 – 9 a.m. decorate Parker Tavern for the holidays. More information to come in November for what we will be needing for help.
- December 2 – Parker Tavern Holiday Open House
- December 3 – Break down/clean up decorations at Parker Tavern
Outings
- On October 31st we will be heading to Mt. Auburn Cemetery for a tour of the grounds which will last 90 minutes
starting at 10:00. The cost for this will be $8.00 and is limited to 30 people, I need to have at least 13 people
sign up or I will have to cancel. We will meet at Pier One at 8:45 to set up carpooling. If you would like to
attend, please bring check or cash to the meeting on October 11th. If you are not coming to the meeting, please
email me at ekrugman@comcast.net and let me know that you are coming so that I can keep track of the numbers.
- On December 7th we have a wonderful program planned. We will start out at the Boston Public Library at 10:00
for an hour-long tour. We will then head across the street to Trinity Church to hear organist Colin Lynch from
12:15-12:45. After that we will come back to the library where we will have lunch at the new restaurant there
called Novels. The tour and the organist are free. The lunch is $15.95 for the buffet and you pay when you eat.
I will be organizing car pools so that people who do not feel comfortable driving into the city do not have to.
